Pisa:

I am way, way behind on updating you all on our trip to Italy. As I sit here uploading and editing pictures, I realize I have been forgetting to also show you guys the highlights of our trip! Oopsie!

So here is a couple of pictures from Pisa. We took a day trip from Florence to Pisa after we spent a full day in Florence. We debated taking this day trip numerous times because there really is only the 3 things to see, and that is if you haven't already seen similar cathedrals and baptistery's. Most people go for the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We decided that since it is so well known and we were so close, why not?! So we did.

What do you know? The day we got there, some lady decided to add some excitement to our lives, as well as other travelers lives. A 31-year old Italian woman decided to buy a ticket to climb to the top of the Tower just to reach the top and jump. Thankfully Mr. Man and I went to the bathrooms when it took place, but we were only a few feet from it. We heard the ambulances and policemen drive up to the area, and I swore something bad had happened. I was thinking accident, though. Mr. Man said he thought maybe an older person attempted to climb it and just overheated. Sometimes I wish that was the case, but sadly it wasn't.

The 31-year old woman had suffered from depression. This was the first jump since 2002. I guess it is a somewhat common thing because it does happen every 5 to 10 years.

I guess this is just something we will get to add to our "history" of life adventures.

I am very proud of our pictures!!

The article of the suicide stated:
"A depressed woman leapt to her death from the Leaning Tower of Pisa in front of hundreds of holidaymakers, including young children.
The 31-year-old woman, who has not been identified, joined sightseers at the top of the 184ft bell tower, then threw herself off.
She just missed people queuing to go up the landmark.
British families were among the horrified tourists, many of whom who covered the eyes of their children as the woman hit the ground."

  1. That's terrible about the woman. I'm glad you didn't see it. The photos, however, are awesome!
