Aiko Art Nursing Necklace Giveaway

Aiko Art Nursing Necklaces are safe for adults to wear while nursing, bottle feeding, or even just holding your baby. They are a great way to comfort and distract the baby.

I have purchased two of her necklaces with my own money recently and have been able to try them out. I got the Spectrum and Rainbow Bright for my daughter to grab and play with while she eats. My daughter had become a very distracted eater and constantly pulled at my nursing cover or pinched my skin. These necklaces have saved me from much embarrassment when I am out in public. Who wants to see an active baby trying to expose their Mom while eating? Not me, and I'm sure not the lady or man sitting next to me. Nursing necklaces allow Baby A to play while eating, but DISCREETLY! No one even knows, but myself.

I have a friend who had a baby that is 1 month older than Baby A. Her son also loves nursing necklaces. She lets her husband wear the necklace as well when he bottle feeds the baby because the baby would constantly pull at the bottle and knock it out of his own mouth. When Mr. Man gets home, we may  have to try this out and see what happens. Baby A is definitely an easily distracted nurser, and thanks to these nursing necklaces, we can get quick and easy feeds in no matter where we are!

I highly recommend these necklaces! Very fashionable with a good reason to buy!

This giveaway will be open from today, September 24, 2011 - October 8, 2011. During this time, Mr. Man will be coming home, so I will be in and out from the blog world.

I also am using a new setup with Rafflecopter to help keep track of who enters and what they do for entries. Please follow the instructions and it should be easy-peasy. I would love feedback on how you like (or dislike) this system also.

Good luck!!

Sesame Street

On Thursday evening, I took Baby A to see Sesame Street Live. It was the USO Tour one, and we had a lot of fun. Even though she is so small, she still enjoyed herself. She loves music (thanks to her Daddy) and she loves when I move her body like she is dancing. Baby A had fallen asleep on the ride over, so she was sleeping when we arrived. There was already a line to get in to the show, so I decided to sit in the car with her until the line settled down. After they opened the doors, the line went fast. When I pulled her out of her carseat, she immediately woke up. SHE WAS READY! We went in and found seats. I fed her while we waited for the show to start just so I wouldn't have to worry about that later. She was really attentive and curious about everything and everyone around us. I really thought the noise would bother her, but she surprised me. When the characters came out and the music started, Baby A just started glowing. It was so adorable. She was trying to grab the chair in front of us to stand herself up on, but I just held her because I didn't want any larger kids tumbling over her. I made her "dance" when the music started up and after every song most people cheered and clapped. Every time a new character came on stage, people would cheer and clap. Well I cheer and clap whenever she does something that amazes me or things that I want to encourage her to do, like rolling, sitting, standing, talking, etc. When I do it at home, she always sticks her tongue out and starts laughing. So there was a lot of funny faces and laughing coming from her throughout the show. The show definitely wore her out because she passed out on the way home and went straight to bed when we did make it home. It was such a fun adventure, and it brought back a lot of memories for me growing up. Even Mr. Man said his Mom took him to those shows, so I thought it was a great idea to do the same for her.

She got to wear her Sesame Street shirt that her Granny bought her a few months ago that finally fit her, and I did take a few pictures of her in it. I will post them once I bring my camera downstairs.

I know, I know. I'm horrible about the picture posting business.....

Mr. Man's Memory of 9/11

  • I wanted to post this memory of my husband's day of 9/11. It is very similar to mine since we attended the same school and watched the same TV of this happening. The only addition I would add would be that it was also picture day at school for the yearbook. My sister had always loved New York and wanted to travel there. She wore a black shirt with "I Love New York" on it with a picture of an overview of the city. The twin towers stood out with glitter. I will never forget that.

Mr. Man posted this on Facebook yesterday, so I thought I would document it here so we could some day show it to our children. It is something I definitely would love for them to learn and see for themselves. They will never be impacted by it the same we were, but they definitely should know and understand this is the reason their "Daddy" does what he does.

I was 14 years old, a Freshman at Hackberry High School, and in Melanie Little's science class. It was in Barbara Guidry's old room in the high school section because Mel's lab wasn't finished just yet. I remember looking out of the window of the door and seeing teachers running up and down the hall way with a kinda urgent look on their faces, but we didnt really pay any attention to it. About a minute or so later Jeanne Sanders LaFleur and a few others poked their heads in and pulled Melanie out. We sat there for a few minutes BSing because at this time we didn't we really didn't have a clue what was going on. Mel came back in and told us to grab our things that we were going to Mary Baker's room to watch the TV. She said something was going on in NYC, but they weren't sure what it was yet.

At this point we were walking to the room with all of the other high school students. Blake Murphy was walking along side me and was saying how people were jumping out of the windows and what not. I didn't believe him and jokingly said "I won't believe this until I see it!" He turned and looked at me with a pretty serious look on his face and said, "It's not a joke man! This is serious! Lots of people are dying!" I found out just how serious it was within the first 5 minutes of watching what was going on! For the next few days we all stayed glued to the TV sets during school hours. The reality of what had happened was starting to set in and like most people I was filled with disbelief and so many emotions ( mostly sadness and anger) that it was hard to do anything other than think about that day!

This day was one filled with images that will forever be burnt into my memory. Seeing the destruction, death, pain, suffering, & heartache of the people there and around America is something that I will live with for the rest of my life. I still have a hard time not tearing and choking up every time I think about it. This was the day I decided to join the military. I wasn't sure what branch or what I would do, but I knew I was going to do something about this.

  •  Now I am here, ten years later... My thoughts and prayers are always with the families that lost love ones on that tragic day, and I am always praying for my Brothers and Sisters in Arms safe return home! I can't wait for the time that the Unites States goes back to peace time, but until that day comes I will always stand ready to do my job and execute orders at a moments notice!

Beer Cheese Dip

This time of year I always try a new dish for the football games. This month starts the months of trying new foods for new occasions. This occasion is football games even though Mr. Man is not here. I came across this recipe and had some of Mr. Man's "not-so-much beer" leftover so I thought I would attempt and try it.

It was actually pretty darn good. You should give it a go. Of course, you must like cheese!

Ingredients:
2 packages softened cream cheese
2 cups shredded cheese (I like mild Cheddar)
1 package Ranch dressing mix
12 oz. can of beer

Directions:
Combine first 3 ingredients and mix well. Add beer until mixture becomes dipping consistency (usually about 1/2 can).

I served mine with pretzels because that is what I had on hand, but I'm sure you could use any crackers or whatever....

If you try it, let me know! At this point in my life, I can eat just about anything! True story.

Blogger and its changes.

Recently Blogger made some new changes, and ever since then my site has not been working properly. I can never sign on to write a post, and I can not even go through the new functions. Sometimes it would not even let me sign in. Blogger and its issues make blog life so complicated!

Anywho, I have been extremely busy. I started new classes this week, and of course, they are super demanding. I had two major papers due this week, and I spent majority of my free time working on them. Thankfully, Baby A is such an easy going baby. I could not imagine how life would be if she was super demanding and needy.

Now we are in the month of September. I can not believe that it is September already. The last few months have flown by so quick. I mean super quick. So quick, that I feel like Mr. Man just left yesterday. I am thankful and appreciative that this is not the case, but holy cow... time flies!

I am super thankful that time has flown by. Recently I have been reflecting on the last few months and wanting to write a post on a recap on the things that we have done and accomplished, but of course Blogger doesn't want to listen to me ramble.... so it hasn't happened. But maybe it will before Mr. Man gets back. Who knows...

Next, is Baby A is doing so great. She is sitting up for several seconds, but she gets so excited and throws herself. She's so funny. She's such a bubbly and happy little girl. She melts my heart. She makes me super proud! She has been teething, but it has not been that bad. We had 2 nights that were rough, but now she seems to be use to it and adjusting just fine. She is now starting to reach out for things I am holding and for things she wants. It was like it happened over night. She also watches me very closely when I eat and drink. She even opens her mouth when I open mine to feed myself. It's so cute! We will be starting solids after Mr. Man gets home and after she turns 6 months. She has another weight check appointment in a couple of weeks, then her 6 month checkup. That's about it... More to come whenever I can gather my thoughts and write proper posts. If there is even a such thing anymore with the way my schedule has changed.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!

Today is the last day to enter the Boon Spoon Giveaway! I will announce the winner tomorrow sometime.
Don't forget to enter the Boon Squirt giveaway! It ends 9/02.
