Dear Daddy - 009

Dear Daddy,

Today is Memorial Day! Happy Memorial Day! I know you still had to work, but everything around here was so laid back. Mommy did some online shopping while I took lots of naps. I guess the BBQ on Saturday wore me out. Speaking of, Mommy brought me to a BBQ at one of your friends. Everyone loved me. They never put me down. I would say that they slightly spoiled me because Sunday I wanted Mommy to hold me all day. The BBQ was fun. There were some big dogs there that were very interested in me. Two cats also. When Mommy would feed me, the cats would try and get underneath the nursing cover to get to me, but Mommy wouldn't let them. They had a lot of hair, too. Big puff balls if you ask me. Mommy at some yummy food, and Frankie wanted me to watch Wall-E and Ratatouille with him. I did. I tried anyway. Sunday we did not go to church because we got home so late from the BBQ. Bad us, we know. But the sun going down at 10pm here is throwing our time cycle off. We forget it's late because the sun is still out. Today Mommy brought me for our morning walk. It was nice out finally. We were going to go on another walk and hit the gym, but it started raining. Go figure. Mommy said that she is going to try and go put gas in your car tomorrow. Hopefully she will make it and the weather will not be too bad. We have been taking a lot of pictures for you. Every single day we have new pictures for you. Mom is trying to stay on top of sending them to you, but I keep her busy. I now mock Mommy's facial expressions. I try anyway. I scrunch up my nose when she does and I make the snake face with her. I like to swing at my dangling toys too. I still can't grab them, but I definitely like to hit them and make them make noise. I can now lay on my tummy and hold my head up. Daddy, I really am getting so big. I can't wait for you to see how big I am now. But until then, I will just keep growing and Mommy will continue to video tape me and take lots of pictures. We love you and miss you and can't wait to talk to you again. Be sure to dream about us!

And to everyone else, I hope ya'll had a great long weekend!

Dear Daddy - 003

Dear Daddy,

Today was another boring day in this neck of the woods. We went for a walk this morning, and Mr. Buttons wanted to come with us so bad. He even tried to pull his leash down from the hook, and I had to tell him no. It upset me, but I am going to take him with us tomorrow morning. Hopefully he cooperates with us. Our walk was good this morning. Definitely was not as windy as yesterday morning, but still windy.

Baby A slept in until 9am. I couldn't believe it when I woke up. Totally caught me off guard, but it was nice to sleep in.

Baby A had a tummy ache today. It was sad. She couldn't sleep because of it, and she was spitting up more than normal but not enough to be concerned about. She finally got it out of her system and was fine from then on.

I took her to the gym with me, and she was wide awake the whole time. She never once fussed and she let me work out. She fell asleep on the walk home and slept for a bit while I cooked me some dinner.

Now we are getting ready for bed. We are going to go get our showers and hit the hay. We've been going to bed by 9pm. It's nice to get to sleep at that time. I hope you had a good first day at work and was able to meet up with old friends. Don't have too much fun without us. We love and miss you a whole lot! I know it will be a while before we get to talk to you again, but I can't wait to tell you all the new things she is doing. She's getting so big!

Oh, and Happy 7 weeks, Daddy!!

We love you more and more and more and more times a million!

Dear Daddy - 002

Dear Daddy,

Today Mommy started her new exercise routine. She went for a jog this morning, but it was way too windy. It turned into a nice walk for us. The sun was shining bright, but the wind was kicking. I slept the whole time, that's just how relaxing it was. After we got home, Mommy worked on some school work. Same ole routine during the day - feed me, clean as much as possible, feed me, try to do school work, play with me, feed me, play with me some more... and of course don't forget to let Mr. Buttons out in between all of that. Mommy has been handling all this hard work very well. She still wishes you were here to help out. This afternoon she wanted to try out her Micheal Jackson The Experience Wii game. I let her by taking a small nap. When she was finished playing, she woke me up for a diaper change and feeding so we could go to the gym. Well, I was just not ready to wake up so on our walk to the gym, I fell back to sleep. I don't remember anything at the gym because I slept the whole time. Yep, you heard that right. I slept the entire time while Mommy worked out. Mommy wasn't too thrilled about the amount of sleep I was getting, but she was happy to get a nice workout. I also don't remember the walk home because I was still sleeping. However, when we got home, I decided to be a playful baby and laugh, kick, and squeal. Daddy, I forgot to tell you. I have a new fun activity. It's sneezing. I think it's so funny when I get the sneezes. They crack me up. Mommy said she will try to get it on the video camera for you. This evening we just chilled out with Mr. Buttons and Mommy tried to finish school work and cook dinner. She accomplished it by one part of the meal at a time. First the fish - cook, eat, tend to me (while eating). Next the vegetables - cook, eat, tend to me (while eating). She's becoming a better multi-tasker as the days go on. She's going to be a pro by the time it is all said and done with. Oh, and before I go, she wanted me to warn you that she will be better at dancing like Micheal Jackson than you. Beware of her skills, Daddy.

PS- Thank you for our call today. We all were very happy and relieved to hear from you. Have a good next few days, and remember we (all 3 of us) are always thinking about you.

We love and miss you big, big, BIG!

Dear Daddy - 001

Dear Daddy,

Today was church day. Baby A did not get her morning nap so she was a bit fussy. We had to sit in the cry room for the first half of the service. But she finally chilled out and we were able to sit in the front for the sermon. Then we went shopping. I bought her a few outfits on clearance. They are super cute and summery. After that, we came home and chilled out for the day. I made me a sandwich for lunch while Baby A played on the floor with some toys. She finally got herself a nice nap, and I took advantage of it and did my school work. I finished two of my papers, but I still need to submit them. I did cook dinner tonight. Just some simple Tuna pasta stuff - my own little creation. I froze the rest of the gumbo in individual portions for me when I can't cook. Thanks for all you do! Tomorrow will be a laid back day (I hope), but I plan on starting my new work out plan. I hope you had a good flight and are enjoying some yummy food!

We will talk to you soon, and hopefully have more to tell you whenever that time comes. We love and miss you very much. All three of us! Can't wait to see your face and hear your voice.

MUAH! - from a million miles away!

6 Weeks Postpartum:

I had my 6 week postpartum checkup this week. Of course it went very well. The tech came in and told me to undress.. blah, blah. Well of course this is when Baby A decides she's hungry. So I fed her while they examined me. Babies always pick the "perfect" time to need to eat, right?! Needless to say, I milked all over the place :o)

As far as my female parts - Things looked great, and I was finally released to start exercising again. I had already started to do small things here and there, but to have the confirmation that everything was good to go was very relieving. I now can start back working out and running in this pretty weather that we have been having lately. I am so ready to get back into the gym and lift like I was before. I am excited to start the adventure of seeing how much my body will go back to normal.

As far as weight loss, I have lost about 25 lbs since having her. I am at the weight I wanted to be before I started working out again. My hips and stomach are still shrinking on their own, so I can not wait until my body is completely done doing it's thing so I can start losing the extra layer of fat that was added while pregnant.

For those of you interested, I still will be tracking my fitness. I am taking postpartum pictures but I will not be uploading them until I start making true progress with working out.

Baby A has her 2 month appointment in a couple of weeks. When she goes, I will be able to share her weight and length. I know she is growing so much, but it seems that she is getting a lot longer and has not hit the point of getting the baby fat - those cute  baby rolls. She still wears newborn clothes and diapers, too. We weighed her on the Wii the other day, and she weighed in at 8.5 lbs. We stretched her out yesterday to get an estimate of her length, and it looks like she is around 21 inches long. As much as I am ready to see her achieve new milestones, I really hate that she is growing so fast.

At some point when I have some time, I will write about our labor and delivery story too.

Happy Friday!

Cloth Diapering:

April 24, 2011 is when these pictures were taken. This was our second day using the cloth diapers, and we immediately fell in love. Yes, you heard me right. "We" fell in love! Mr. Man now gets bummed when we have to use a disposable. I even use the cloth diapers whenever we go out for the day. We love them so much, and I am so glad that I researched and decided to use them because after a couple of weeks of using disposable, Baby A got a spot on her leg. I thought it was her birth mark coming out because that is what it looked like. It grew a little and got a bit darker, then stopped. Finally one day it began to just rub off. I did a little research and the only thing that I could find was that some babies get chemical burns. However, I am not claiming that is what it was because to be honest I have no idea. She never saw a doctor for it because by the time we realized it was not a birth mark, it was healing itself up. It never bothered her, never got red, and never swollen up. Never showed any signs of being something that was abnormal. Baby A is now 6 weeks old and we swear by our cloth diapers. She can go a whole night without being changed. Have I mentioned that she also sleeps through the night? Yep, she does that, too.

After several days of fully cloth diapering and a few loads of actually washing them, we decided to start using our cloth wipes. I was just going to use them during the day whenever I was home with her to help save from buying disposable wipes. I figured Mr. Man would not enjoy having to worry about cloth wipes, so I never even mentioned it to him. One day he saw me using them and asked why I decided to start using them, so I told him just to save from using our disposable ones. Well, lucky Mr. Man got the priviledge of changing a poopy diaper one day after work and took it upon himself to try out the cloth wipe. He immediately fell in love. I did not watch him change the diaper, so I did not even know he used it until he told me that he liked them. I asked when he used it and he explained. Come to find out, it took him 1 cloth wipe for that poopy diaper instead of using 3-5 disposable wipes. Now he's hooked!

And I can say I am a firm believer in what most cloth diapering moms have told me! And it is not as hard or time consuming as people claim. My advice to you if you are considering to cloth diaper is to try it out for yourself because you will find that it is not complicated at all if you choose the right diaper for you!

That's all for now and until next time!

Long time, no see

I know it has been almost a month since I have posted anything, so I thought I would update everyone on why and what is going on.

As you all know, we have a new bundle of joy. Not only are we adjusting to the changes of having her around, but we are also preparing for another deployment. Mr. Man will be leaving soon, so I have decided to take my spare time to spend with him as a family since he is not getting any time off of work before he leaves. Weekends are strictly family time as evenings are as well. My days are still cram packed with goodness so I can keep the evenings open for family gym time and relaxation. I do plan on starting to update everyone on Baby A and what she has been doing, as well as us as a family.

But before I start any of that, I wanted to make a quick note about the deployment - the reason I even brought it up now (before he left). I generally do not tell anyone when, where, etc of him living, but I wanted to let you guys know the change that my blog would be having once he is gone. Here it is... This is my outlet. But this will also be where I share our days with Mr. Man while he is away. I prefer not to post every little thing on Facebook because many do not understand the lifestyle we live, and I do not expect them to. So I have decided to temporarily make this blog a daily journal of our adventure through my husband's third deployment. I know I have always said I would never make it all about my daughter only, and I still plan to do that. But there will be more updates, pictures, and daily adventures going up for Mr. Man to read. With this said, there may end up being multiple posts some days. I still want to share my fitness journey, my cooking and baking, and my random projects. I just ask that you respect these little notes to Mr. Man, as they will also be documents of our life together as this blog is meant to be.

I greatly appreciate all the support we have been receiving from such wonderful people. I am thankful that I have a community of people right here in the blogging world that support, encourage, and inspire us through our life.

I hope everyone has been doing wonderful, and I will begin my updates on past events and milestones as I get the free time.
