Memory to document

Last night was definitely a memory to document, so I can go back and look at it for the rest of my life. I have the most amazing of friends here. Friends that respect me as a military spouse no matter my age or look. England has been such an amazing place for me to get out of my shell and experience the world. So many people have been here for me and consider me to be one of their best of friends despite my age, which is fantastic for me. I have always had trouble with people being ok with my age, but when people take the time to get to know the real me, they realize that I am who I am... and it all seems to change from there.

So last night was Angie Morris's birthday. To celebrate she had a party at her house since her husband was away. All of us girls got together and had margaritas, Filipino, and played the Wii. Boy was it an awesome time. Somehow some of us managed to take shots of Tequila... and holy smoly.. Just because I am 21 does NOT mean I can hang.. or am use to doing any of that. At least I didn't get sick, right?! My game, "Just Dance", was a hit. Everyone loved it including the kids. We all brought our pajamas to her house and changed into them and hit the dance floor. It was an amazing time, with cameras going off and Molly (Angie's dog) drinking our margarita's! HAHA! We also played American Idol on the Wii. I never got the opportunity to join in on that fun, but I was 100% ok with that! It takes a lot to get me to sing in front of people. Filipino did the catering and it was sooo good! Brenda Anthony made the birthday cake, and it was fantastic. Chocolate with pecan, roasted coconut frosting, and chocolate covered cherries on top! Our gift to her was the goofy picture of us girls at the MUNS Christmas Party goofing off in a frame, of course. And the other gift was a huge sign about friendships and families for her house. It was something she has been asking for, so we pitched in to get it for her. So... YAY for an awesome time!

I am so not ready for Morris to PCS! Not at all!

Facebook Sucks

So... a rant about Facebook. Facebook is suppose to be used as a site to keep in touch with many people, whether they are near or far. Why do I feel like I constantly have to cater to these friends? Do they not understand the reason behind these kinds of sites? Are they in it for themselves, as in Are they selfish? I just feel that way too many people take Facebook way too seriously. They need to tone it down a notch and respect that most people spend their days working, improving their lives, messing with kids, cleaning house, and NOT on Facebook. Soooo... do you understand my drift? Good. Because I do not feel it should take such an effort to maintain this site. Cry babies will cry no matter if you do right or wrong because in their eyes, they only see the bad. The end :)

Chinese New Year

February 14th was the official Chinese New Year's day, but here in the UK, they celebrate it for a whole month. This year was the Year of the Tiger, so I thought it was perfect for being from Louisiana (LSU Tigers). They had the official parade, acrobatics, other performances, and the lion dance on Sunday, February 21. I, with a friend and her daughter, took the ITT trip done to London for the day. The bus left at 8am, and we arrived in London at about 10:30am. When we got there, the festival for the Chinese New Year was not going to begin until 12pm. We knew we had some time to walk around and look at different things, and that is when I realized that the changing of the guards start at about 10:30am and doesn't end until after noon. We started heading to Buckingham Palace. On our way, I was walking along side of the road at a distance. I was not close to it at all, but it was against a fairly busy road. A taxi came flying by and hit a puddle and water splashed all over me. I just thought I was going to have a rough day from then on out. When we got to Buckingham Palace, we were able to get along the road to watch the guards marching up and the police on their horses. I sat there and watched them even though I have already seen the show. My friend and her daughter had not seen it before, so they watched, too. When it got closer to noon, we started making our way back to the Chinese New Year festivities. By this time, it was 11:45am and my friend and her daughter were getting hungry. We found warm cafe inside the National Portrait Museum right outside of the Chinese festivities. The parade was due to start at 12pm sharp, so needless to say we missed it because we were eating. I am not use to having children with me and the time it takes them to eat. But I did later catch the people and music that was involved in the parade, so that made up for it. I watched the Lion Dance, and the crazy things that those guys underneath that suit could do. It was really neat to see. After that ended, I walked to Chinatown because I had not been yet. Plus, that was the whole reason why I was there. Chinatown was, of course, extremely packed, but it was worth every bump and push. I was able to finally eat at an all you can eat buffet! The line was out the door, but I waited patiently to get in. The tables were huge picnic tables where everyone sat by one another. It was a neat little experience, and I would love to go back on a less busy day. I had so much time until the bus came to pick me up, so I wondered around London. I went to the park right there. As I was walking through, I saw a guy standing in the walkway by a bench with a bag of peanuts just sitting by him. He was feeding the squirrels. So many of them were running right up to him, and I thought it was really neat to see. Well as I walked farther, there was another guy that was feeding the squirrels right off the fence. There was so many squirrels, including one that looked like he had his tail cut off. The guy told me that if I put my leg out and showed the squirrel the peanut, that he would climb right up my leg and eat it out of my hand. So I just had to try it, too. Sure enough, a squirrel climbed right up my leg and ate the peanut I was holding. It was so cool. I can't wait to take Wiley back and let him experience. I had the cutest little squirrel footprints on my blue jeans. After that, we decided to go feed the birds. Well they get very excited when people feed them and sometimes fight. Well I caused a huge scene... of course I did. I wouldn't be Sarah if I didn't. So I was feeding all the birds and they were getting all stirred up. They were fighting and flying right over my head (wings flapping my hair type of close) trying to get the food I had. As I was tossing it out, more and more of them came flying towards me. Well..... long story short, a bird pooped on my head! Not to mention on two other people's head and I felt horrible because they were trying to take pictures of me with feeding the birds so they were really close and they got pooped on. They laughed about it, but I still sort of felt horrible. But I was having a blast, so I didn't even care. Just thankfully a lot did not get on me. I was able to easily wash it out with no problems, and it did not stink! My day turned out to be awesome. I was able to do things that I would have never been able to convince Wiley to do. I finally saw Chinatown and was able to eat Chinese for lunch and dinner! Woo hoo! Not to mention, when I was in Chinatown, I came up close to the Lion Dance people. They were able to explain everything to me, and I got to see it up close and personal. So I was able to get a couple of pictures. The bus left London to head back home at a little after 7pm. I got to my house at about 10:30 to find Wiley on the computer waiting for me, so we could chat! It was an awesome day, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Another Week Down

This time I will take the time to write a little more about Wiley and what has been going on. Wiley made it to Afghanistan a few days after leaving here and said that the trip was fine. I had packed him 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a couple of meat sandwiches, and a few other little snacks. My little heffer stays hungry and with the long flight, he wanted to be prepared. Needless to say those sandwiches and snacks not only fed him but also a few others he traveled with. I was happy to know the food didn't get wasted and it helped others.

After he made it to his destination, he found out he would be working nights. So he works 6pm to 6am his time. He is 12 hours ahead of home and 4.5 hours ahead of me. He enjoys being on that shift, but he only gets to see a couple hours of daylight there. He has been working nonstop since he got there, but he claims he wouldn't have it any other way. He says from time to time it gets frustrating to see other shops watching TV, playing video games, or slingshooting fruit (Yes! I did just say that) at each other, but staying busy makes the time go by faster. He has mentioned a few times where he almost missed his bus ride "home" because he went into work, started working, and time went by so fast that he someone had to tell him he was about to get left.

All in all and from what I understand, things are going well for him. He's working out still and has put on some muscle mass. He is weighing in at 171 pounds right now and plans to cut after he hits 175. He has been working out with another bodybuilder, and he loves it. I am happy for him because here he couldn't break 160 no matter how hard he tried or how much he ate. He truly is doing it big, or like I call it "Batista Style."

School is going good for him so far. He is going on his third week and says he is doing good. The only problem I have with this is that he is constantly emailing me asking me to revise his posts and papers. I must say he is getting better with his spelling, grammar, and punctuation, but I have my own gazillion amount of papers to write. Good thing, though, he is making good grades, so I can always throw that in his face :) I will always know that I contributed to his degree and GPA!

Other than that, nothing more is going on. He works, eats, workout, and sleeps.. And somehow manages to fit school work into the mix of things.

Funny story: Wiley carries a gun there. I guess it is tradition to name your gyn. He named his "Cajun Bombshell" after me! We have a story behind some of the random names that I have picked up along the way of our adventures of life. He told me his gun is an older model and looks like it would have been used in WWII. He told me to be sure to send the picture of it to his Dad. Well when he sent me the picture of it, I noticed there was a sticker on it of a red headed pin up girl. I guess all the guys put something on their guns to tell them apart. I must admit that the girl was cute, but I did not find that it resembled me like he claimed, especially since I now have blonde hair. Wiley precedes to tell me that (LOL!!!) the red haired me looks more intimidating and fiesty. All I could do was laugh because it seems that everytime we change hair colors, he always goes back to my red. He loves the red and only wants the blonde temporarily when he wants to see sweet and innocent me. Of course, I am always sweet and innocent no matter the hair color, but it is the perceived thoughts from outsiders that he uses to determine that. He is goofy, and that is exactly one of the many reasons that I love him. I have included the picture of "Cajun Bombshell."
