Kindred Connection: A Day Late

Windy Poplars

So I missed out on Kristen's Kindred Connection party yesterday, so I am going to do it today. This weeks topic was based around movie topics.

The questions are:
1. What was your favorite movie as a child?
Growing up, my sister and I watch The Little Mermaid over and over and over again. We each actually had bikes that were The Little Mermaid theme. I remember being little bitty, and me and my sister snuggling on the couch in just our underwear watching this movie.

2. If you could live in any movie as your fictional world, which one would it be?
This is a tough one, and I honestly do not know if I can answer it. Give me a few minutes to think, then I'll be back....

I think I got it. I would want to be in Charlie's Angels or one of the Fast and Furious as a flag girl... :)
3. Have you ever seen a midnight showing, or hosted a movie release party? Tell us about it!
I have not been to a midnight showing, and truthfully I am not that big into movies. Yes, I have movies that I love and adore, but I can not stand immature, drunk, and rowdy teenagers.. and same goes for the adults that act 2 years old. I have also never hosted a movie release party. Once again, not that big into movies.

4. What movie release are you most looking forward to this year?
I am ready to see Eclipse. My experience with New Moon was ruined. See the answer above on how it got ruined. And sadly, that was not even a midnight showing. Nor one of the first daytime showings. Hopefully Eclipse will make up for what happened with New Moon, and if not, oh well.
5. Are you a theatre goer, renter, or wait-and-buyer?
Mostly a wait-and buyer. Why? Because I like to buy them on Blu-Ray. Mr. Man loves Blu-Ray and truthfully that is about all we buy now. Sometimes, if we have nothing to do one evening or one weekend, we will rent a couple of movies. And if we want a reason to get out of the house on a rainy day or cold day, I will convince him to go to the movies. We have probably been to the movies less than 10 times throughout our relationship, no kidding. Which we have been together almost 6 years.

Kindred Connection:

Windy Poplars

Let's get connected, yea, yea, yea! Kindred Connection party is right here, right now! So go link of and meet some people that have something in common with you!

The questions this week are:
1. What pets currently reside at your house?
(If you don't have any now, tell us what you grew up with)
We have a beautiful Miniature Schnauzer that totally owns our hearts. He is most adorable thing in this world. He is extra snuggly and loves to share his love, especially with kids.

2. What is one really strange thing your pet(s) does?
I am not sure I am aware of anything strange that our boy does. He is deathly afraid of water, and I really think it was because Mr. Man threw him in the pool one summer when he was younger. He shakes very bad when he is around water until he realizes that everything is ok.
When we still lived in Texas, we had a pecan tree. And this pup loved to eat the pecans that had following from the tree. Not sure if that is strange or not. That's all I can think of for now.

3. Now fess up here: give us your nicknames for your pets (we KNOW you have them- and we KNOW they're good)!
So his name is Buttons. When we got him, I wanted to name him Harley. Mr. Man wanted to name him Buttons. Mr. Man grew up with a Buttons when he was a baby, so he really wanted another Buttons. I gave in of course, but we decided to give him a middle name. So he is Buttons Harley, and I call him that pretty often. I also call him my Snuggle Butt because he loves, loves, loves to snuggle, and I love that he loves to snuggle. Mr. Man will sometimes call him "Butts" for short, which was also what they did with his other Buttons'.

4. Are your pets spoiled or not (grin)?
He is very much spoiled. We will admit it. But he also is an only child, too. Mr. Man and I get attached to our pets, so of course we are going to take extra care of them and spoil them. We dress Buttons, he sleeps with us (sometimes in the middle of us), when Mr. Man comes through the door from work, Buttons is who he goes to first, we plan our weekends around doing something for him, etc.
One really bad thing that I did when I was still in Texas was give him Sonic Ice Water. Every morning (while Mr. Man was deployed), I would take him for a walk. I would stop by Sonic and get a large ice water. Buttons got the drink the water and crunch on the ice. He loves Sonic ice water just as much as I do! (We didn't share it, though.) For the longest time, he wouldn't drink water unless it had ice in it.

5. Insert pet pics here :-)
PERFECT!!
Here is him as a puppy. He was also eating pecans from our tree.

Here is a picture of him for his first birthday. (Mr. Man was deployed.)

I will save you the other birthdays, but he did have them.. He will be 4 in September.
Here is a more recent picture of him.

He loves the outdoors. He loves the sun. And he definitely loves his Daddy!
These two guys are like two peas in a pod... and I'm the corn!

Kindred Connection:

Windy Poplars

Kindred Connection is always a great weekly party to attend. It allows you to meet new people that you have something in common with. It is not just about following someone and following them back. It is about opening up, finding people you relate with, and beginning a lasting relationship with your fellow Kindred Spirits. There are a range of categories of the bloggers that attend this party.. it ranges from cooking to crafts to gardening to life experiences. So come along and join the fun!

This weeks question is:
What made you want to start your blog?
When I started this blog, I had already started 3 others. I had my private blog, fitness blog, and a blog for our adventure on getting pregnant. I really wanted to keep it separated because we have not announced when were going to start trying for kids, so I wanted it to be a private area for me to document our thoughts from then until we begin trying and until we get pregnant. Then for my fitness, it was public through bodybuilding.com, but I did not tell many people about it. I documented my workouts, supplements, did some blogging, and posted progression pictures from time to time. Then I had my private blog. The private one was about our life, but I felt like I was hiding it from the world because I had "stalkers." It was because people were being so judgmental and stalk-ish. People I know personally. Well now that Facebook is the same exact way, I just decided that it was my blog to say and do what I want, and this was a great way to meet people that could relate to my experiences and lend some great advice. It is also a great support system. I hardly ever complain or fuss about things, but when I do, it seems others have to make it a gazillion times bigger than what I even stated and blow it up even more from there. But now, I do not really care because I do this for myself. Blogging has been a great experience for me. I feel like I can share my life with others that appreciate life in general. In turn, I get awesome support and can be someone else's supporter when they need it. That's how I roll...

So today was Mr. Man's first full day back at work. He only has to work 3 days then has 16 days off since we are leaving for Italy on Saturday. I still can not believe how quick time is flying since Mr. Man has been back. It seems as if it was just yesterday that I began planning our trip, or it was just yesterday that he stepped off that plan and I welcomed him home. These past couple of weeks have gone way too fast. But I am accepting that, and I am realizing that I can get so much more done with him being in work for a few hours, especially since I have finals this week. Mr. Man went off to work this morning, and I slept in. Guilty of sleeping in! I got up, ate breakfast, turned on the computer, then sat and watch about 30 minutes worth of TV until the computer had  been on for a bit. I got on the computer and began working on my Art final, and guess what?! It's done. I completed it in about 4 hours with a lunch break in between. I planned to finish it today no matter how long it took, so I could take my math test tomorrow and have Friday to finish packing and running around before heading out on Saturday. Today has been a successful day!

Now, I am going to start doing the clothes and getting ready for the gym. I can't believe we are so close to leaving for Italy. Oh my, oh my!

I am going to add Welcome Wednesday to this post, so I do not have a gazillion posts for the day.

Kindred Connection:

Windy Poplars

If you do not know what this is, click the lpicture and read all about it. This is probably my most favorite blog party yet!

The questions this week are:
1. What is the most recent vacation you've been on?
The most recent vacation that I have been on is when I went to the Scotland border with Mr. Man and our boy. I know that is pretty sad, but it is true. Ask me this again in 9 days, and this answer won't be true anymore! Yippeeeee!

2. What is the destination of the vacation of your dreams?
Recently, I have came quite fond of Egypt. It is a destination that I just recently added to my travel list.
3. Do you have a favorite place you vacation to regularly?
The beach. I miss the beach. The beach was not really a vacation spot, though, because I lived 30 minutes from it. Another spot my family and I use to go to was waterparks, like Water World, Blue Bayou, and Slitterbahn (?sp). I really miss being able to do those things.
4. Vacation preference: beach, city, or mountains?
Here, it is mountains. Sometimes I get a craving for the city, like when I want to be energized and see specific things. I love the beach and always will, but since I lived on the beach, I will take the change for now.
5. Have you ever vacationed with a group of people (other than your family)? If so: How did you coordinate it, and would you do it again?
Let's see.. I have not vacationed with anyone other than family since I have been married. And before I was married, I was in high school... so I guess this answer is no. Boring..

Now, a little about today.
Today Mr. Man had to go in to work for the day because someone's wife is having medical issues. Technically he is suppose to be off (and will be off until next Tuesday), but Mr. Man offered himself to replace this guy so he could be with his wife. Understandable. I have no complaints whatsoever about that..
but today has been so weird for me. I am use to going all day with Mr. Man that I feel lost. I can't just so sit by him on the couch and snuggle up with him and the boy. I feel tired. I am probably tired because we go nonstop during the day and now my body is finally relaxed and is screaming at me to chill out. But I won't since it is just a one day thing, so I took advantage of the day and ran some errands that I have to do alone and did as much school work as possible so we could spend these next few days together.

I have decided to do the 101 things to do in 1001 days. I decided this a couple of months ago while Mr. Man was still gone. I started the list to see what I would want to accomplish, but it was hard to find 101 things. It's taking some time, but I want them to be realistic and fun all at the same time. I am trying to talk Mr. Man to doing it with me (just share one). But he is undecided on it. I told him it would be fun because I already have so many things on it that is for the family anyway, like vacations, camping, biking, etc. Things that I would want to do with him, and I know he would want to share it with me. However, I can't get him to agree and help me!!

So tomorrow.
We are going in to file our taxes finally. Last week, we didn't get to do it because Mr. Man couldn't get a hold to his W-2's. Now we have them, now we are ready. I'm pretty excited about that. After that, we are going to go somewhere to look for new couches for the house. We both are ready to upgrade. It's time to upgrade. We debated it for a long time because we felt like we were in too small of a house to get what we wanted, but we are so ready for new sofas. It looks like the house loses and we win because we are going to spend a couple of days shopping around until I find exactly what I am looking for (and I hope I do soon!).

Iron Man.
We went and watched Iron Man in theaters yesterday. It was just a really random and spontaneous idea since we normally wait until they come out on Blu-Ray, but for some reason we were begging for something to do. This is what Mr. Man spitted out. I am an Iron Man lover. Something about the role, something about the suit that gets me excited and all happy inside. I loved the first one, and I liked the second one. I can't exactly tell you why I think this because I don't even know. I just know that it was a decently good movie. Someone mentioned not wasting money to watch it in theaters, and I would have to say I agree. It's a good movie. It's worth watching, but it isn't work $15-$20. That's just my opinion on the money side of it. But like I said, the movie was good. I will definitely be getting it on Blu-Ray. Only for the character, haha! For some reason, I love Iron Man.

Kindred Connection and My Shopping Spree:

Yesterday was the day where Mr. Man took me shopping. He was really patient and did a wonderful job. I was very impressed. Not to mention, as we were walking around shopping, he was throwing things into my bag for me to try on (all of which 2 items, I absolutely loved!). I was in the dressing room for a long time exchanging things in and out (while Mr. Man held my bags), and it was a success. I came home with two huge bags full of goodies and a big smile on my face. I got some shorts, dresses, shirts, belts, shoes, panties (again!!), leg warmers, leggings, blue jeans, etc. I got a whole lot of stuff. Actually, I got so much stuff that I have to go buy new hangers now. Now that's the kind of shopping I love and adore.

I did try to get Mr. Man to buy a couple of things, but he just was not interested. But I did try. I promised one day we would go just for him! And on that time, we are going to go eat some sushi while we are at it.

Oh, and on a good note. I only spent half of what I brought with me. I never once looked at prices and I just tried on what I wanted and went from there. I came home with about 40 new items and a couple of them were pairs of things. Like I bought these really cute long sundresses. They are fitted with a cute design, some were flowery, some were striped. I got the stripes. A pink and white and a pastel-ish orange one came together. No complaints there. I would show you pictures, but I have already put everything away.

Next is.... Today is Wednesday, which means..

Windy Poplars

The goal is to meet people that you have common interests with. It really could be from anything from gardening, cooking, crafting to family life, faith, and life experiences. If you want to join in, just click the picture above and it will take you straight to the Kristen @ Windy Poplars. From there, follow the guide and get moving!

1. How do you most like to entertain during the summer (pool party, picnic, cookout, etc.)? - Or if your situation doesn't allow for entertaining right now, what do you look forward to being able to host?
Let's see... I really enjoy a day out on the beach with the BBQ pits. I also love sipping on cold drinks, like the homemade flavored water, while being out by the pool with friends and family. A lovely crawfish/crab/shrimp boil out by the pool would be nice, too. I have not had any of these things in over 2 and a half years, so I will get back to reality.
Here, I enjoy being some type of host. Normally for events, Mr. Man and I will cook out. He normally handles the grill while I handle the Cajun foods inside, such as gumbo or jambalya. We sit out with out friends and go to the different events around here and come right back to our home to finish off the night. That is about all our outside entertainment consists of for now.

2. Do you have a favorite summertime dessert?
I do actually. Here, I love their ice cream. If you ask them, they will say they love Blue Bell. But I; however, disagree. I am not an ice cream person, but something about their ice cream draws me in. In the states, it was always the fruit popsicles. If I'm not dieting or watching my figure, bring me a nice and yummy strawberry cheesecake!

3.What is your best outdoor summer date idea?
Mr. Man and I love to go out to the beach with our boy and lay a blanket out. We normally picnic then walk around some. We mostly lay around on the beach, which isn't anything like we are use to. I wish this place allowed for more outdoor activities because I love being outdoors! Which reminds me, we are going a bike riding trip soon. We haven't done that around here yet.

4. Share any outdoor decorating tips/ideas you have...
I do not have a green thumb at all. I wish I did. I try so hard. I love the daffodils and poppy's that are all over the place here. I tried last year to make our garden look all nice and pretty, but I failed miserably. So this year, we decided not to even try.

5. What will we find you wearing most in the summertime?
I love summer dresses, capris, and blue jeans shorts. If you asked me this while I was in the states, I would say my bikinis! I have a gazillion of them, but I have worn them a total of 2 times in the past 2 years. I know, horrible, huh? I also love flip flops. I love when it is flip flop season here because my toes need some breathing room by that time.

Kindred Connection

 Windy Poplars

1. If you had a day from this past week that you could "live over" (either to enjoy the good all over again or to change something for the better) , which one would it be and why?

To be completely honest, I do not want to relive any day this week. It has been one rough week, and I am so ready for it to be over with. I did have lots of fun yesterday, which was probably my most eventful day all week.

2. Do you work outside the home? Are you a SAHM? Are you self employed?

I am a stay at home wife. I am a full time student working on my Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Hopefully, after my Bachelor's I can move right on in to my Master's. I love being at home all the time. I forgot how wonderful it is, but I know once I get back to the states I will be beyond ready to work.

3. What are two blogs that you really love, and why?

There are quite a bit of blogs that I love to read. I really love A Little Pink in a World of Camo. I have been following Mrs. P for a long time even before the accident. I have enjoyed reading her things and counting with her on different events in her life. Another  one that I love to read and feel I can connect with is The Adventures of Mr. Superman and Mrs. S. I have just recently started to follow her and we have a lot in common.

Ok, so I will probably be out for a couple of days, so I leave on this note! Thanks everything for all the support and I will let everyone know when Mr. Man arrives. Have a wonderful Wednesday, Thursday, Friday... and weekend!

Kindred Connection Party!

Windy Poplars

Woo hoo! I am attending my third Kindred Connection Party. The Kindred Connection is for anyone who has a blog that is based on "marriage, faith, family, homemaking, decorating, crafts, cooking, travel, saving money, style, and a little bit of everyday life," then you qualify to join The Kindred Connection. Kristen at Windy Poplar does a wonderful job at hosting this. To join, just click the button above, and it will send you to the original blog.

The questions are:

1. What is your cultural heritage, and is it a part of your life (eg. do you celebrate your cultural holidays, or have special traditions or food that comes from your heritage)?
I was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana. Anything past that, I have no idea, so I will stick with the Cajun culture. We are two Cajuns. People can point us out and know that we are from the south, including the English. We say "ya'll" quite a bit. I am sure my readers have already noticed that. We celebrate Christian holidays and Mardi Gras! I can't really think of any other holidays. I have been away from home for way to long. We love our food, like gumbo, boiled crawfish and crabs, jambalaya, fried okra, boudin, King Cake (oh I love King Cake!), and red beans and rice with sausage. Oh gosh, I miss home now!

2. Give a short description of your vision for your blog.
Really, my blog is a place for me to speak my mind and get my emotions out without getting winded. I have it opened for others to read and follow because I (just like anyone else) enjoy having the support and encouragement from others that can (or can not for that matter) relate to me, my life, or my emotions. I love getting ideas and advice when new things come my way.

3. What is one thing you are really enjoying about spring?
I love that the sun has started to come out earlier this year. Last year, we had snow on Easter. This year it was nice for the sun to come out earlier. I also love the poppy flowers and the daffodils that always blooms here.

4. Do you have an idea to share about something we could do today to bless our husbands/boyfriends to let them know they're special?
Everyone that has their husband right there by their side everyday should be thankful and appreciative. I really have no ideas of what you could do for your husband, except appreciate them and do not take the time you have with them for granted because there is always someone out in this world that can only wish and dream about their husbands being by their side. If you do not cook for them, give it a try. Buy them something simple that they have been needing or asking for. Rent movies and snuggle on the couch for the night/evening. Do anything to show your love for them.

5. Are you involved in any social club (garden club, dinner club, book club, etc.) - or would you like to be?
I do not belong to any of those. I know this sounds horrible, but I do not have the time to be "clubbing" it up. I am a part of a couple of volunteer groups. I am a Key Spouse for Mr. Man's squadron, and I am also a part of the welcoming committee for the new spouses that PCS here. I do love to read, though. I am out of books currently, so I can take suggestions on what to read. I wish I had a green thumb for planting and gardening. I did when I still lived with my Dad ages ago. We have a vegetable garden, and I loved it. When we retire, we will definitely have a garden. I miss my rose bush in Texas, too.

The Kindred Connection #2

How exciting?! I am attending my second Kindred Connection Party. Windy Poplars

The questions for this party are as follows:
1. What is your favorite vacation spot?
Wow, this is a tough one considering I am about to travel a lot with in the next couple of years. But so far, I have to say that my favorite vacation spot thus far is when me, Mr. Man, and our baby boy went to the Scotland border for a long weekend. We went hiking and just relaxed. Here are some pictures to show a little of our adventure.
The picture below is of the valley itself.
The picture above is the beginning of our 8 hour hike.
The picture below is me pretending to fall over.. It actually was really scary!
The above picture is Mr. Man enjoying the scenery.
This next one is our baby boy at the top of the mountain... and the wind got the best of him to give us a priceless photo!
The picture above shows the top of the mountain, but this is a picture after we began to descend.. looking back.
The picture below shows one of the many stone fences throughout The Lake District. These are very, very old! They are lined along the roads and through the neighborhoods.
Of course, we have many, many more photos, but I don't want to bore you too much!

2. What are the three qualities that you most admire about your husband (or if you're not married what are the three qualities you would most desire in a man)?
To pick only three, now that is the tough part. I have to say 1.) His commitment to being healthy and fit since it is a part of me, as well. 2.) His desire to be a better person in all aspects of life. 3.) His personality.. the fact that he can be loving, caring, sweet, but still be strong, masculine, tough without losing any sentimental value.

3. What has been a meaningful Bible verse to you this week?
I have been harping on Truth from myself and others as things in my life take place. The verse that I have came upon often and feel connected to is:
2 Timothy 2:15
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth."

4. What is your favorite color(or colors) and why?
My favorite color is by far Yellow. Yellow is my favorite color because of the fact that is it bright. It sends light to all dark times and provides positiveness. It is always the color that brightens my day.

5. What is the funniest thing that happened to you in the last 24 hours?
Oh, oh, I got it. Lately, I have been tangling my words up and typing crazy words when I mean other words. Like one day, I told my husband I going to go work, when I meant bed. (I don't work!) Another day I told him I was going to go to a friend's men, but I meant a friend's house. (I think I worried him about going to another man's house, haha!) And the one that happened yesterday, which I thought was hilarious was when I said "It spread like Wildflower!" Of course, I totally meant "Wildfire." The joys of being blonde... scattered!
