A Little Bit of Everything... Including GTKY Sunday

Today is Sunday! My favorite day of the week!

The last couple of days I have having a small cough here and there and get extremely tired and achy at night. Yesterday, while we were out and about, I bought me some medicine. Last night was by far the worst of it so far. I was so tired by 7pm. I just wanted to go to sleep and never wake up. I felt like I could sleep for a couple of days straight! Well I took the medicine right then and laid on the couch. I fell asleep hard. I was definitely drooling. Once I woke up and realized this, I told Mr. Man that I was going upstairs to bed, which I did. I passed smoothed out and do not remember anything up until this morning. I woke up feeling much better, but I still had a very, very slight sore throat. I have just been drinking tons of water today, and hopefully tomorrow I will be up and running again.

Sunday's are our BBQ days. We sit outside, BBQ dinner, and just enjoy each others company. We normally even BBQ on not so pretty days, including the winter months. It's just one of those traditions that we have started and has stuck with us. Today, I took Mr. Man grocery shopping (which I normally do not do) to get some small things. I told him he could get some fresh fish if he wanted, too. Well, when we got to the fish area, guess what Mr. Man picks out?! Sting ray wings!! Seriously! I have a hard time eating any fish in general. It has to be extremely yummy and cooked just the right way. Well, Mr. Man talks me into it, so what does he throw on the pit today? Yep, you guessed it, the Sting Ray Wings.

I have to say that it was pretty yummy, but for me, it takes a while to get passed the "omg, this is what I am eating" type thing. The whole time I was eating, I kept thinking about a trip me and my family took when I was younger. We went to the zoo. We held and feed sting rays. The ones we held did not have their stingers, but the ones we fed did. Then, there was our trip to Disney World, where we went snorkeling. Of course, with Sting Rays. As I am eating, this is all I could think about. It was mentally hard to do. Mr. Man kept saying, "You know it tastes good so just eat it." I would say, "I'm not so sure I like it." Then he would say, "You only do not like it because of what it is." After thinking about it for a few seconds (each time), I realized that was true. So I kept eating away. Now that it is in my tummy, I have to say that it was pretty darn good. I think I would eat it again.

When Mr. Man got back from his deployment, I made our boy a bandana shirt. I never took a picture of it, but one of my friends did. I thought I would share it.

So, we had another funny today. I am getting to the point where I realize Mr. Man is actually home. He keeps trying to help me,  but I forget he is even around to help me. Sounds horrible, I know, but it's true. For example, today.. after we went grocery shopping, I parked the car and asked him to go underlock the door for me, so I could grab the groceries. He replied, "How about you go unlock the door for me, and I will carry in the groceries." So I say ok, and he replies, "Daddy's home now." No arguing there.

And here is the most aggravating/funny story. Not hilarious funny, but it still humored us. We had leftovers from some Bourbon Chicken I made a night or so ago. It was on the top shelf in the refrigerator. As I was putting up groceries, I knocked it off. I tried to grab it, but didn't grab it in time. Ok, so it hits the ground. Normally, this would not be a big deal (and it would not spill) except that Mr. Man totally put the wrong lid on this container. Seriously, Mr. Man? The Bourbon Chicken sauce flies on my foot and flip flops and down my leg. At first I laughed until I realized that he put the wrong lid on the dang thing. So I called for him and made him help me clean it up and put the right lid on it. As he approaches the kitchen, he says, "Daddy's home now!" Haha!! He's so great!

Yesterday, we went and finished getting all of our things we would need for Italy. We are officially down to less than 2 weeks until we head out. I am so excited. I can't wait!!

Now, I will participate in the Getting to Know You with Keely

The questions are:

1. The most expensive thing hanging in my closet is.....?
My jeans are pretty expensive. I have a pair that were $180 and 2 pairs that were each $120 (and that was on sale). I can justify it, though. (At the time, I'm not so sure I could.) So here's my justification: 1. I am petite. It's hard to find adult clothes that fit me just right. 2. They were on sale and my favorite jeans. 3. I was still in high school when I purchased them. If I am not mistaken, I believe I was a Freshman. And they still live up to being my favorite jeans, almost a decade later!
Ask Mr. Man what he thinks about these pairs of Blue Jeans.... I dare you!!  :)

2. Have you ever played a team sport?
Yes, I have. Since I was old enough to walk, I did gymnastics, cheer, dance, softball, and basketball. I played softball, basketball, and cheered through high school. And I very much do miss all of it. I make Mr. Man take me to the batting cages often. I would love to play on the base team, but sadly I am falling apart (knees from catching, wrists from pitching). *sad face* I did play on a co-ed basketball team with Mr. Man and his squadron. I was the only girl in the league (that I have seen). I miss cheering the most. I can't wait to have a little girl, so I can be a cheer coach!!

3. If you were a bug, what kind would you be?
I am not a bug person at all, but... If I had to choose a bug, I would want to be a lady bug. They seem feminine and nice. I would want to be a bright red one with more than 3 black spots. Those are the cutest!

4. Where on your body is the worst place to get sunburned?
Neck, I hate when things touch my neck, including my hair. My hair either has to sit higher than my lower neck or longer. Otherwise, it will bother me. Sunburn on the neck, makes me want to scratch it just thinking about it.

5. Are you happy?
I very much am. I am so blessed with the things I have in life. I could not as for more!

6. People are always abbreviating..are there any abbreviations that make your skin crawl when people use them?
You know what. Actually, this is one of my pet peeves. Like "tard" for retard, "commy" for commissary, "sammy" for sandwich, "O-M-G" (like actually saying the letters) instead of saying oh my gosh, etc. I live a military life, and that in itself has enough abbreviations for me.

7. Do you love where you live..or could you live anywhere?
Oh my!!! I absolutely adore where I live. I would not want to have it any other way. We want to try to extend here or get another overseas base. If I could PSC anywhere, I would want to go to Japan, Italy, and Hawaii. Maybe one day we will hit all these spots.

8. What, if any, extreme measures do you go to to keep yourself from overeating when you're full?
I am a self-disciplined person. I do not really have to do anything to stop myself from eating. Before, when I had not grew to understand and have self-control, I would put some of my water in my food (if I was out somewhere). At the house, I just don't buy what we shouldn't eat or I will hurry and throw it away (or put it up) once I am full and shouldn't eat more.

  1. I hate when people say OMG or Commy! Its like, "is it really that difficult?" It seems like it takes more effort to say the stupid abbreviations than the actual word. Ha ha! "Daddy's Home" That cracked me up :)

  2. I didn't know you could eat sting rays and that you actually like them. I personally like eating the unusual and now I'll be on the outlook of some sting ray for sure. Glad your Mr. Man's back home and your little boy dog is adorable! Enjoy the week.
