A's Favorite Movies: 3 Years Old

If you've been around for a while, then you know that every few months I document some of my girls' favorite things. I have done toys and books so far. Now I am going to do movies. Only A watches fullmovies, so E's will be her favorite shows or characters. Neither get a lot of TV time, but when I am alone and having to cook dinner or lay one down for a nap then that is when they get that time.

A is 3 years old. She is very well rounded with her likes. She liikes superheroes and princesses, plays soccer, and does ballet. Her newest interest is the Disney Princesses. Thanks to Frozen, which brings us to one of her favorites.

Frozen! If you ask her who her favorite Princess is, she almost always says Princess Anna. She also loves the music, and her ballet instructor has incorporated it into their lessons.

Another favorite is Cinderella. She loves the mice and birds!

Snow White and the Seven Dwards have caught her attention. She has a Snow White cottage by Fisher-Price Little People that she has been loving. Actually both girls do. When she saw the DVD that resembled her people.... well, you know the rest.

Another favorite that has been on rerpeat a few times is The Little Mermaid. I don't think it's because she is a princess though. A loves actual mermaids! She has for a while now.

Her last favorite lately is A Christmas Story. Christmas in July?! Iguess so. Right after Christmas last year, we lost the movie. We were all bummed as we showed it to her because it was our tradition every year - our favorite Christmas movie. A couple weeks ago A found it, and we have watched it over and over again!

Top Toys for 6-9 Months

With Christmas coming up, I thought I would start some posts of my favorite toys that we have had for the different ages. This post is for 6-9 month, which is where E is right now. I think for 3-6 months the list is simple. Rattles, teethers, soft blocks, play mats, and so forth for them to learn to grab. This is when they really start to play and figure out buttons and so on.

Sassy Crib and Floor Mirror

Both of my girls really loved the crib and floor mirror. When A went through a phase of hating her carseat, I velcroed it to the handle of her seat. Babies are always fascinated with looking at themselves, and my girls are no different!

Leap Frog Chat and Count Phonf \se

This phone is probably one of our top used toys by both girls. In fact, it gets so much use that I have considered buying a second one. Baby E has already figured out how to press the buttons. The size is perfect for E to hold and play with and it looks realistic in the sense of size so A likes to carry it in her purse. 

Vtech Roll and Learn Ball

This ball was a hit with both girls. A received it for her first Christmas. It has not stopped being used since. I put it away for some time while I was pregnant just so it wouldn't get overused and A wouldn't get tired of seeing it. We brought it back out when E was about 3 or 4 months old, and they are both using it regularly! It encourages crawling, has lots of sounds, fun buttons, animals, and more. 

Baby Einstein Roller Pillar Activity Balls

These balls are amazing. I wish I would have had them sooner. These were a gift to E on her first Easter this year. They have been a hit with both girls since. A really loves to make them make their nose for E. Now that E is old enough to figure it out herself, she does. 

Baby Einstein Touch and Explore Discovery Book

This book is also a hit with both girls. It has a button that lights up and tells the story. It also asks for the reader to find things on each page. It also plays music. This is one of my favorites, and I plan to get more for E for Christmas and her birthday. 

Vtech Lil Baker Smart Kitchen 

This kitchen. Oh this kitchen. This was a gift for A's first Christmas at 8 months. This little guy has been a first favorite for both girls. E started playing with it constantly at 6 months. She still LOVES it. Our problem is that A still loves it, too. She now can do the shape sorting, so she hides it in her room. When E goes in there, it is the first thing she reaches for and sometimes A doesn't like that. 

Vtech Zoom Zoom Racer

This is another very very big favorite in our house. It has a couple of settings for learning and playing. When you push the head down, it zooms across the floor. The faster you push it, the faster the music plays. It also lights up. 

Playskool Pop Top

This is still a favorite for A. E is just now getting to where she will play with it. She really doesn't understand to press the top to make the balls move around, but she loves that it has a handle and she can carry it around. She will hold it and crawl around. Then she will sit and shake it. A likes to press the top for her, and E laughs her head off. 

Fisher-Price Go baby Go! Poppity Pop Musical Dino

My Mom got this for A's first Christmas. I had never saw it or knew anything about it. Once it became a favorite in our house, I did some research for reviews and found that it is a favorite amongst many parents and children. It tosses the balls and plays music. The balls go through the mouth, then you put them back in the tail to make it back in the middle to bounce and start the music. The shaker on the front also activates it to bounce the balls and play the music. 

Vtech Baby's Learning Laptop

The famous laptop. When A started seeing us use our laptop, she always wanted it. I knew we had to get her. Fair enough, she got one for her first birthday from a friend. She actually got a couple versions of laptops, but this was the first she could relate to and understand. She would discuss the pictures on it and press the buttons. The mouse also moves, and it has three settings. 

These are definitely a favorites in our house, and ones that will stay around for a while. In fact, I even told Mr. Man that they may be around for any future children because I really  love how they were favorites with both of the girls. It makes me feel like they are really great quality toys. 

If you are planning a Christmas for a baby around this age, I highly recommend these products!! 

A's favorite snacks {2 years}

When a baby becomes a toddler, a fairly high percentage of their diet is on snacking. I always try to plan what I will have for snack foods in the house and what I will also have for lunch. I plan to do a post on A's favorite lunches at this age, so I can be prepared with E. This post is going to be A's favorite snacks at this point and time. 

A is 2.5 years old. She is our eater. She loves to eat, and she is definitely not picky. If she sees you eating, she wants what you have. This girl will eat anything you give her. And she will even go to the fruit trees and pick stuff to eat, and go in the garden and attempt to pick stuff. She isn't allowed in the garden, so normally I catch her before she attempts but she has succeed before with the tomatoes. 

Anyway, I thought I would list A's top 5 favorite snacks right now. They are in no particular order. Just like with any other child, she changes fairly often. As time goes on, I may update. 

1. Yogurt. A loves yogurt. She has for a while, too. But now she can eat it by herself. She likes flavored yogurt, as well as plain yogurt. And sometimes I even give her fruit to go with it. 

2. Fig Newtons. She has been enjoying herself some Fig Newtons lately. She also likes the strawberry, blueberry, and apple ones. But her favorite are by far the fig ones. 

3. Apple Sauce... or any kind of fruit sauce. We have several fruit trees. We couldn't eat the fruit fast enough, so I decided to make and freeze some apple, pear, and cherry sauce for Baby E could have some when we started her on solids. Well, A decided she was in love. She has eaten the whole stash in the freezer. Now I am having to buy from the grocery store, which is fine. I decided to try her again on the pouches because I thought it would be a great way for her to be on the go and still enjoy her apple sauce. Surprisingly, she loves them. So we buy both, the cup and the pouches. 

4. Cheese Sticks. I have a hard time with this one. A is just like me. She loves, loves, loves cheese. I know it is a good source of calcium, and I know it is healthy when eating properly. But this girl loves cheese beyond no end. If I let her, she would eat a whole bag of string cheese in one sitting. 

5. The last one that I am going to post is one that is generally a given with children this age. It is important for them to have it, and generally each child likes some variety of it. Fruit. A loves fruit. She goes through stages where she will be really into berries, then back to apples, pears, and bananas. Right now, she is loving nectarines. She went through a Clementine phase as well. The only fruit that she hasn't really taken too is watermelon. She loves pineapple and cantaloupe. We give her fruit a lot. Especially during these hot months.One of my favorite ways to eat it is through a salad with a packet of instant vanilla or cheesecake pudding over it! Yum!

That wraps up A's favorite snacks at this time. She loves to eat and her taste buds are always changing. I hope to do more of these just to watch as her taste buds and desires change. I hope you enjoyed this. And I hope it gives you some inspiration to what to give your children as snacks! 

What's on my nails? August 4, 2013

To start off Makeup Monday, I thought I would do a basic post. This one is what is on my nails. I may do a few of these throughout the year just to talk about my favorite colors for the different seasons and so on.

While Mr. Man was gone, I allowed A to paint my nails. Most of the time I let her paint my nails and I can generally fix them to help them look a bit more presentable.

For the summer, my favorite colors for my nails are mint and pink. I am loving the Wet N Wild Wild Shine in Tickled Pink and Sally Hansen Hair as Nails XtremeWear in Mint Sorbet.
